Engine Co. No. 17
Reynalda and I decided to do a shoot in Downtown Los Angeles using historic architecture. The look we wanted to go with was a classic look inspired by the Pachucas of the 1930s and 1940s, but with a modern twist. We wanted to replicate the distinctive style by having her wear a dress that looks like the knee tailored-made gabardine skirt that was often worn with a standard Zoot finger-tip jacket.
Pachucas were the female counterpart to the Pachuco subculture created by Mexican youth during the post-war era.
The two-story brick structure, previously known as Engine Co. No. 17, id located at 710 D. Santa Fe Avenue. The historic building was built in 1928 and will be turned into a boutique hotel.
